How do I open my notes?
Choose File → Open… and pick a folder (or a single file). The folder appears in the sidebar. You can also drag a folder onto Stillread’s icon, and recent folders are listed when the app opens.
How do I make Stillread open Markdown files from Finder?
Select any .md file in Finder, choose File → Get Info, pick Stillread under Open with, then click Change All….
Quick Look still shows plain text.
Open Stillread once after installing it so macOS registers its preview. If another Markdown previewer is installed, macOS may prefer it; you can turn previewers on or off in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Quick Look.
How do I change the typeface, width or text size?
Open Stillread → Settings. Use ⌘+ and ⌘− to change the text size as you read, and ⇧⌘F for Focus Mode. Press Esc to leave it.
How does editing save?
Automatically, a moment after you stop typing, and again when you press ⌘E to go back to reading. Undo works as usual. Stillread writes the file back exactly as it was apart from your changes, including line endings and frontmatter.
Something else changed my note while I was editing.
Stillread pauses saving and shows a small note: choose Keep Mine to keep your edits, or Load Theirs to switch to the version on disk. Load Theirs can be undone.
How do I move Editing to a new Mac?
Your licence works on up to 2 Macs. If you’ve replaced a Mac, or need more, email support with your licence key and we’ll reset it.
Does Stillread work with my Obsidian vault?
Yes. Open the vault folder. Wikilinks, image embeds, callouts and frontmatter are all supported, and ⇧⌘O opens the current note in Obsidian.
